WLg-ABOARD/N is a rugged equipment designed for applications in railways and CBTC architectures (1), on-road, marine transportation, depots, warehouses, agriculture, manufacturing floors, docks, distribution centers, shipyards and lumberyards … it can be mounted in trucks, trains, tramways, freighter ships, forklifts, trailers, tractors or cranes, for material handling, real-time information transmission, and inventory management. It fulfils the most severe requirements in terms of operating environment: from -25°C to +70°C or extended from -40°C to +80°C, shockproof and vibration proof, IP66 seal rating for protection against dust and water projections.

The product is UTAC E2 certified (CE standard for electronic equipments installed aboard vehicle), and can thus be installed in full safety aboard of all on-road equipments. (1) The WLg-ABOARD/N series integrate perfectly into the CBTC architectures (Communications Based Train Control); CBTC is an automated control system for railways that ensures the safe operation of rail vehicles using data communication between various control entities that make up the system.

The WLg-ABOARD/N used in the ACCESS POINT mode makes it possible to create an industrial WiFi wireless network from any industrial equipment featuring an 10/100 Ethernet interface. Used in the BRIDGE mode, the WLg-ABOARD/N enables to connect any industrial equipment featuring a 10/100 Ethernet interface to the WiFi wireless network. WLg-ABOARD/N module can also be used as a WiFi network repeater (WDS) in order to extend radio coverage, device supports both INFRASTRUCTURE and AD-HOC modes. The WLg-ABOARD/N device is also designed to work as a wireless bridge between the wired MODBUS/TCP, Ethernet/IP or PROFINET protocols and the radio network, this feature allows to connect any industrial equipment to hte wireless network.

Thanks to its built-in WEB interface, the setup of the device is achieved using the web browser installed on your computer (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla). It also offers SNMP and NDM administration / configuration and the optional “C-Key” which allows quick and easy on-site replacement of the WLg-ABOARD/N unit, eliminating the need to reconfigure the replacement part or to use any other equipment. The WLg-ABOARD/N doesn’t require any additional software to be installed on your computer (no peripheral driver needed).

The WLg-ABOARD/N is compliant with the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h standards (wireless Ethernet 2.4 / 5 GHz), it features a built-in 2-port Ethernet 10/100 base TX auto-sensing switch on M12 circular connectors. The radio link is made safe by using most modern methods of protection: WEP 64/128 bits, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK and authentification IEEE 802.1x (RADIUS server). The nominal range (open space) of the module is 300 m for a transmit power of +20 dBm and -92 dBm in reception (a/g modes) and -95 dBm (IEEE 802.11b mode). The WLg-ABOARD/N is available in various power supply range (dual input) : +9VDC to +72VDC, +9VDC to +36VDC insulated, +36VDC to +140VDC insulated as well as POE(IEEE 802.3 af) for the WLg-ABOARD/NP & /NPI models, power consumption is 8W typical (10W with the 400mW radio).

The WLg-ABOARD/N enables to connect two Ethernet networks or two Ethernet equipments in the AD-HOC mode (direct radio connection without infrastructure) or within a radio network controlled by an Access Point as well.The WLg-ABOARD/N can also be configured to work as a WiFi access Point. WLg-ABOARD/N also supports the MODBUS/TCP & PROFINET protocols, thus you can easily replace a network cable by the radio link to connect any industrial equipment which rely on these protocols.
